Inflation Is Seeing a ‘Pervasive and Persistent’ Rise Warns Economist

In a recent interview with CNBC, Economic Cycle Research Institute co-founder Lakshman Achuthan discussed the rising trend in inflation that he expects. According to the group’s proprietary U.S. future inflation gauge, we are at the beginning of a cyclical upturn in inflation. The trend is also seen in the Consumer Price Index and government data.
The good news is that Achuthan doesn’t think that a resurgence of inflation will disrupt the economic recovery. He also argues that the leading indicators show an upswing in the business cycle that will continue, even if Congress fails to pass a stimulus package.
