Half of CFOs Expect a Recession by the End of Next Year
December 18, 2018
Chief Financial Officers are wary of 2019’s economic prospects, with 48.6 percent predicting a recession in the next 12 months, according to a new survey from Duke University. If the economy does manage to make it through 2019 without a recession, 82 percent of CFOs predict we will see one by the end of 2020.
The 212 CFOs surveyed were even more confident that the rest of the globe will see a slowdown. 86 percent see a recession in Canada by the end of next year, with 66.7 predicting the same for Europe, 54 percent for Asia, and 42 percent for Latin America.
