Job Openings near Record High, Vastly Outnumber Job Seekers
December 12, 2018
The total available jobs remained at 7.08 million for October, unchanged from the previous month. This is the second-highest level in the history of the Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, and is surpassed only by August’s 7.3 million openings.
October saw 6.08 million Americans classified as unemployed, meaning that there are 1 million more jobs available than there are people looking for work.
The number of openings was 16.8 percent higher than in the same month last year.
