A Record Number of Americans Think It Is A Bad Time to Buy A Home

With record-high prices and record-low inventory, now is a tough time to be buying a home, and Americans are less optimistic about the market than they have ever been, according to one survey.

A recent survey from Fannie Mae found that just 35% of U.S. consumers believe it is a good time to buy a home. That’s the lowest level that has felt that way since Fannie Mae began tracking sentiment in 2010. The same survey found that 67% of Americans believe now is a good time to sell a house.

An analysis from Zillow demonstrates just how competitive the housing market has become. According to their analysis, nearly half, 47%, of recently sold homes were on the market less than a week before selling. More than three-quarters, 76%, sold in less than a month.
