Consumer Sentiment Shows Americans Optimistic on Economy

University of Michigan’s Surveys of Consumers has released preliminary numbers for September, and they handily beat economist predictions. Consumer sentiment hit 100.8, up from August’s 96.2. This marks the second highest reading of the year, and the second highest since 2004. Economists expected sentiment to rise modestly, and for September’s reading to come in at 96.6.
