Weekly Jobless Claims Rise More than Expected

Claims for unemployment benefits rose to a seasonally adjusted level of 214,000 for the week ending September 22. This is up 12,000 from the previous week’s level of 202,000. Economists had forecast an increase to 210,000.
The four-week average of unemployment claims, which is considered to be a less volatile measure, increased only 205 last week, rising to 206,250.
